The Psalms have always been a go-to for me especially when I don’t quite know what to say to God in my prayers. So I was delighted when our new spiritual family (the Asheville Church) was doing a Summer of Wisdom series which included a study of the Psalms.
This week we were encouraged to write our own psalm in the form of a lament, prayer, or as praise. Never one to shirk a writing challenge, I dove in.
And since I’m a type “A” over-achiever, I just had to do it in the fashion of a traditional Hebrew alphabetic acrostic poem (each stanza or sentence starts with a successive letter of the alphabet).
If you’re up for the challenge as well, feel free to share your self-penned psalm in the comments section below.
